The Technology Consulting Group (TCG) is Stanford's premier internal managed service provider. We're part of the central IT department and plugged into the cloud, enabling workgroups and teams to get the most out of their technology investments.
Because we're an "at cost" provider and share our expenses across clients, our services are more cost-effective than outside vendors. We understand Stanford requirements and guidelines, and we bring best practices and emerging technology trends to our clients so they can do more with limited budgets.

Cloud Solutions
TCG offers comprehensive support for building, rearchitecting, deploying, and migrating all sorts of servers, software, and applications in any cloud.
Data Backup & Protection
TCG can help protect your digital assets from loss associated with stolen laptops, campus fires, Bay Area earthquakes and local server crashes. We provide two services: CrashPlan and CloudBerry Backup.
- CrashPlan for Endpoints protects laptops and workstations from data loss, with continuous backup to the cloud for all types of files, including high risk data.
- If you prefer to administer your own server, we can manage just the backups with Managed Cloud Backup Service for Servers (CloudBerry). With this affordable service, we'll install and configure the same enterprise software on your server that we use on our clients' fully-managed servers.
System Administration Solutions
University IT offers contract System Administration solutions for servers running modern Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
Our “Comprehensive Support” agreements provide a fully-managed experience intended to support your system throughout its lifecycle, from idea to production, on-campus or in the cloud.
- Consult and establish priorities, sketch out ideas and propose a strategy
- Build and operationalize a system to your specifications, integrated with the campus
- Tune and audit, beyond the day-to-day care to ensure security, availability, and continued cost-effectiveness
