Drupal for Site Managers

New session times will be displayed below upon confirmation.

Have you recently inherited a site you now are responsible for managing? Learn how to manage permissions, users and roles in Drupal. Learn best practices for managing and maintaining a site, reviewing security, permissions, and backing up!

Students will learn how to use Drupal roles and permissions to manage access to a site and then work your way up to exploring more advance functions. We will show best practices for making site changes, backing up, and restoring your site.

Activities

You will be provided with working examples and exercises that will teach you how to create and grant permissions to a role, and test the result.

Explore permissions hands-on for content creators, content approvers/editors, and content managers/admins to allow other users access. You will then use Roles to change the visibility of Blocks and explore how that can be used to target content to users.

Before you leave, you will learn how to run ad-hoc backups to ensure that changes can be rolled back. We will look at some Drupal best practices for keeping your site safe and secure.
