The Cloud Vendor Management program is provided by the UIT Shared Services Vendor Management team. The goal of the program is to promote the compliant and affordable use of cloud vendor resources on campus. Our services, tools, and resources described below support the effective use of cloud vendor solutions throughout the product lifecycle. We are here to assist you with your cloud journey.
Planning to use a cloud vendor
Before you choose a cloud vendor, review Choosing and Purchasing a Cloud Solution to find the best cloud solution for your needs. After you have decided on a cloud solution, review the key points to consider before buying or using cloud products. Think about how to protect data, users, and the University and the University and legal policies to follow when using cloud products. If you are thinking of using a SaaS product, review the key points to consider when acquiring and managing a cloud solution. Go to the Cloud Deployment Resources page for additional resources to help with your SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS project.
Buying a cloud product
You can use free Gartner Group research to identify industry leading Cloud vendors with the best solutions to meet your requirements (access requires login with your SUNet ID and password). Review the UIT contract database to learn more about our current vendors and contracts.
Some Cloud vendors already have agreements in place with Stanford UIT or with Internet 2(I2), a technology community for higher education institutions. Learn about I2 cloud products with discounted terms on the I2 Cloud Services and Applications web page. Learn more about our current vendors on the UIT Strategic Cloud Vendor List.
Supporting a cloud product
Learn about a vendor's Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and availability (for IaaS vendors), and review suggestions on how to manage and reduce cloud costs and how to renew or upgrade subscriptions or services.
